Koch Group, Inc. is a second-generation consulting firm offering industrial marketing solutions for manufacturers and industrial service providers. Our focus is the same as it was when our parent company, Koch International, was founded over 40 years ago. We continue to offer practical solutions to the unique marketing problems faced by manufacturers and industrial service providers. They don't have glamorous consumer marketing problems. Their needs are more unique. Larger mass marketing consulting firms give little notice to the small and mid-size manufacturer and, typically, don't understand their unique problems. Koch Group has provided marketing solutions required by small and mid-sized manufacturers, nationwide, since the late 1960s.

Our philosophy is simple: Provide industrial clients with practical solutions based on first hand market research and then implement a plan with our "hands on" assistance to get desired results.

Corporate profile

Koch Group specializes in providing "hands-on" industrial marketing assistance for small and mid-sized industrial and manufacturing firms concentrated in a 500-mile radius of Chicago. We work directly with owners and senior management to focus and assist with marketing activities in all projects.

Most client projects usually require some, or all, of the following:

  • Research analysis
  • Strategy development
  • Market plan development
  • Implementation

Long-term projects conducted for our clients are usually in the $30,000 - $75,000 range, and take between 8-12 months to complete. Short term-projects typically range from $5,000 - $20,000 and are usually completed in 100 days or less.

Market research is conducted to determine the characteristics of profitable products or services a client does, or can, provide to the market place.

Identified market characteristics are then explored and evaluated to define:

  • Product requirements - dimensions, weight, materials, packaging, performance criteria
  • Price - practices, policies, range, development
  • Promotion - options, preference, effectiveness, costs
  • Distribution channels - costs, effectiveness, alternatives
  • Potential - market size, segments, penetration, trends, value
  • Competition - identification, evaluation, ranking

Obtained information is then analyzed to develop conclusions and action recommendations for management's review.

Following presentation, discussion, and acceptance of market research, strategy is jointly prepared.

Based on the selected strategy, a practical marketing plan is prepared. This plan contains the tactics, programs, budgets, controls, schedules, and assignments required to meet management's objectives.

During implementation, a most critical stage, we work "side by side" with owners, management, and key employees to perform required marketing activities. This practice ensures the plan is correctly implemented and desired results are achieved.

The majority of our clients typically have 150 employees or less. Many are closely held or family businesses, though some are divisions of large corporations.

We spend the majority of our consulting time in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Minnesota, and Ohio. However, we have worked, and continue to work, for clients across the country. Recent assignments have taken us to out west to California, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Colorado, and Arizona.

Koch Group consultants have spent project time in America's central region including Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Arkansas, South Dakota, and Missouri.

Projects have taken our consultants to the southeastern states including Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Mississippi.

We also headed east to take on assignments for our clients in West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and also outside U.S. borders.

Company history

Koch Group is a second-generation industrial marketing consulting firm. We are an outgrowth of Koch International, which was founded in the mid 1960s. When our founder retired in the mid 1990s, the Koch International assets - furniture, computer network, and client files we purchased and the firm was incorporated as Koch Group, Inc. We maintain Mr. Koch's core philosophy of providing practical solutions to manufacturers' marketing and management problems, which deliver expected results.

Qualifications

Most Koch Group clients are extremely capable managers and only require the services of a consultant to assist in the development and/or implementation of specific programs. Effective consulting requires a basic and practical approach to solving problems.
