Koch Group consultants are concerned with ensuring our manufacturing clients have developed strong, performing, networks of agents or reps. Often, a manufacturer's group of agents has been assembled by a variety of haphazard means, such as just receiving a letter offering representation, offering the territory to a friend or relative, providing exclusive rights to a territory to an agency they have never met, or many other unique methods.

Since the agency that represents a manufacturer is a direct extension of the manufacturer in a particular territory, it is critical to assemble a network of agents that are professional, sell complementary lines, call on a good cross section of target companies, and are interested in a long-term relationship.

Koch Group consultants interview a manufacturer's agents/reps to determine if they meet the key criteria for a highly successful agency. Typically, we discuss their situation with them for 1 to 2 hours. We also determine how our client is supporting them in their selling and marketing efforts in the territory. We create a detailed dollar value of the territory potential and determine how well an agency is working toward the potential that exists. We then analyze the obtained information and report to our clients, providing conclusions and recommendations for current and future actions.

Our recommendations often become a "road map" for our clients' agent development and support activities for many years. Sometimes, that "road map" requires agency recruitment, replacement, or just improved agency support activities. Our goal is to assist our manufacturing clients develop the highest producing agent network possible for the budget available.
