Our consulting approach
Industrial marketing services for manufacturers
The success of a client's assignment greatly depends on the mutual concern for, and desire to achieve, effective results. We encourage, and expect, participation by all client management levels from initial discussion through project, or plan, implementation.
The following steps are necessary to a full understanding and effective use of Koch Group services:
- Exploratory Discussions
Discuss the areas of concern confidentially and without client obligation. This discussion may be confined to the chief executive officer or a select group of managers. This exercise provides management with questions they need to answer and situations they must overcome to be more successful.
- Written Proposal
After the problem is well defined and both the client and consultant understand the assignment objectives, we prepare and submit a number of increasingly detailed documents that ultimately lead up to a final proposal. These include:
- an outline summarizing our understanding of the clients needs and our general steps to provide the services we believe are required,
- a draft scope of work providing additional detail for the suggested consulting tasks,
- a draft proposal with most of the final proposal details but without costs and timelines which will be finalized upon discussing the proposed work,
- a detailed final written proposal containing the client objectives, the anticipated project results, a specific proposed scope of work, project reporting and deliverables, scheduling, and costing.
The draft proposal is reviewed with the client to determine how well we have defined the tasks to provide solutions to the problems previously discussed. The draft is revised until the client is satisfied it meets their objectives for project activities, budget, scheduling, and expected results. This draft and revision process ensures the client understands why the itemized tasks need to be performed and has approved.
-
Cost
We usually include in the proposal a firm project cost, a fixed fee. Charges are based on a per diem, or an hourly rate, plus actual travel and out-of-pocket expenses. We will price a project to fit the client's payment needs. Any tasks that are added by client request after work begins, and which exceed the fixed fee budget, are reviewed with the client when work is requested.
-
Company Personnel
Prior to starting the client's assignment, we brief our consultants and other company personnel assigned to work with the consultant. Our personnel must know the client's objectives, desired results, and the methodology to perform the project correctly.
-
Interim Reports
During the course of the assignment, the client will be informed concerning progress, work completed, anticipated upcoming activities, tentative conclusions, and possible solutions. These reports will help prepare management for the ultimate implementation of recommendations. Written letter reports are normally submitted at the end of each month.
-
Implementation
We don't accept assignments, or even propose work, if the client is not willing to invest in the project's implementation. We are not interested in only preparing reports and interim documents - we expect to get the results the client desires and deserves. This is accomplished by jointly implementing the activities required by the market to penetrate it successfully.
We work "hands on" with our clients to get the job done. We don't tell a client how to do an assignment without showing them how to do it ourselves.
-
Final Report
Upon assignment completion, a final written report with conclusions will be submitted. This report will include supporting information and state the reasoning behind the recommendations.
-
Follow-up
The consultant function is not totally fulfilled or realized until the recommendations have been effectively implemented. We follow-up each assignment to ensure that maximum benefit is realized from our services. We maintain contact with our clients after the "meter" is turned off, to make sure the required results are achieved.
