General information on industrial marketing
What is an industrial marketing consultant?An unusual consultant! We only assist, and only have assisted, manufacturers and industrial service providers, which we've done for over 40 years. We understand the marketing needs of the small and mid-sized manufacturer and the processes they employ. We do not work in the consumer or commercial sectors. Most manufacturing clients are trying to identify new geographic or industrial markets they can serve to increase sales profitably. Some are trying to determine how to more successfully penetrate the markets they already serve. Many are trying to do both. Most manufacturers want to diversify their business so it is not dominated by a single company, or a few companies. Why are you any different than other marketing consultants who have called on us?It is tough to generalize, but there are very few industrial marketing consultants in the U.S. We bring a 40+ year history of successful projects. It is easier for us to let our clients answer that question, and we will be glad to provide you with references appropriate to your specific project as a final proposal is developed. How long have you been in business?Our parent company, Koch International, Inc. was formed in 1967 to expressly offer marketing services to small and mid-sized manufacturers. When Mr. Koch retired, his company assets, computer files, and physical client files, were purchased by the current partners. Each of the partners had worked with him over ten years at that time. We incorporated as Koch Group, Inc. since Mr. Koch retained his existing corporation. We have continued focusing on assisting small and mid-sized manufacturers and industrial service providers obtain desired marketing and sales results.
Do you guarantee your work?This is a difficult question, because much of a project's success depends on the clients' ability, desire, and willingness to carry out the assignments, which they must. So, the answer is "No". However, the vast majority of our work assignments have yielded excellent results. Are we too small to work with you?If a manufacturer is generating over $2.0 million, they can probably work with us. Will you work with one of our competitors?Never! We will never work for a direct competitor for any current or past client. We go to our clients to determine if an inquiring company is a direct competitor. We want a relationship. Will you work with us longer than just this project?Some clients only require a short project. However, if a client's requirements include long-term needs, we will certainly provide that assistance. We also desire long-term relationships when practical. We highly value the clients we have worked with for decades assisting them as they require industrial marketing services.
What if we don't have the skills to implement a plan?We work with client management and selected staff to train them in the needed project methodologies and then work directly with them to accomplish the required task. We are "hands on" consultants. We don't write a plan and walk away. Do you know about my industry? How can you help us?Koch Group consultants have been exposed to a wide gamut of industrial processes in our 40+ years activities. While we probably have a reasonable handle on your industry or manufacturing process, only the market has the answers you need. Our industrial marketing methodology gets the market answers needed to successfully develop an implementable plan or marketing actions to profitably increase sales. Our expertise is our proprietary marketing methodology for working with manufacturers. Is our information confidential?Absolutely. Koch Group consultants typically ask to sign confidentiality agreements long before our clients bring up the subject. As soon as a client begins to provide detailed information on their business, we ask to sign confidentiality agreements for both parties' protection. Do you work outside the Chicago area?During the past ten years, out consultants have worked in over 40 states! However, our emphasis has been to seek clients located within a 500-mile radius from Chicago.
